Made entirely from paper, Estudio Guardabosques’ geometric, animal and bird sculptures are a feast for the eyes! Carolina Silvero and Juan Elizalde are the design duo behind Guardabosques, the multidisciplinary design studio which is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
To create this beautiful 3D sculptures, the duo spends time analyzing photographs of animals and studying them from various angles, figuring out the proportions for the paper model. These measurements are then used to design the model on the computer and then print it on low poly paper. This technique means no details are needed to understand the form, no eyes, no whiskers but just simple, but precise folds of paper that capture the essence of the animal form.
According to Miss Silvero: “The pieces we enjoy the most are those where we can combine some of the low poly animals and objects with some illustrations to make a scene and tell a story.” Silvero and Elizalde have collaborated on a variety of paper- craft projects, including both artistic and editorial work.
