Greetings from Melbourne!
My name is Nora, and I’m the owner and designer behind InconnuLAB. I create unconventional and customizable bags and clothes with a focus on environmentally-friendly practices.
WE LOVE INCONNULAB BECAUSE IT IS
HANDCRAFTED
By supporting the tradition of skilled work and the advanced high level training that is required to make our clothes. I use traditional handmade methods that can only be completed by a highly-skilled worker (who is me :) )
SUSTAINABLE
At the heart of all InconnuLAB products is the desire to minimize environmental impact. I have total control of the manufacturing process, which makes it possible to use even the smallest production leftovers
LOCAL
I create bags and clothes in my Melbourne-based home-studio in a lovely peaceful suburb, Reservoir. We ship worldwide but I encourage everyone to buy local! Why? At the most basic level, when you buy local, more money stays in the community. The New Economics Foundation, an independent economic think tank based in London, compared what happens when people buy produce at a supermarket vs. a local farmer’s market or community supported agriculture (CSA) program and found that twice the money stayed in the community when folks bought locally.
TRANSPARENT
InconnuLAB is a small-business founded in Italy in 2013. This slow-fashion brand consists of two members; Stefano Cangiano and Nora Dzsida. Stefano is the web-designer of www.inconnulab.com and an enthusiastic supporter of Nora who is the owner, maker and designer of our products.
Are you interested in where do our materials come from? We only buy locally our high-quality products boosting local economy. The list of our favorite shops includes but is not limited to the The Fabric Store, Davisha Textile Merchants, and Birch creative. In fact, we buy small amount of fabrics, just as much as we need for the single projects. And yes, it also means, that if you live in Melbourne you and me can go together to The Fabric Store to choose your favorite textiles for your next InconnuLAB cloth!
The path
I studied economics in Hungary. After years of working internationally, I dropped everything to move to Italy, and, in 2013, I launched InconnuLAB. When I was living in Italy, I felt it was the right moment to embrace my creativity. I started by volunteering at a cultural association; meanwhile, I dabbled in making dresses and designing jewelry. I always had an urge to design and sew, but I never had any formal training. Everything I knew, I had learned on my own. Then, I decided to do the next step in 2018 when I moved to Melbourne. I was lucky enough to meet Philippa at SisterWorks, who taught me all the tricks and tips a tailor has to know, making my dream come true. My next goal is to introduce my products to Australia, especially to Melbourne.
