We are more than excited to invite today on our blog Greta Agazzi, a fascinating makeup artist and inspiring instagramer, whose creations go beyond a simple ‘pretty’ look, to an actual statement. Lucky to know her in person, I felt even luckier when she agreed to this short interview, in which she shares her knowledge, experience and inspiration with us. Dive in!
- Hello Greta! Welcome to the InconnuLab Blog! Can you tell us a bit about your background?
Hi, thank you for inviting me! So, I was born and raised in Milan and at the moment, I’m living in Trieste. I am a self-taught makeup artist. I bought my first eyeshadow three years ago during a really stressful period. I was in need of some fresh air since I felt really suffocated by my really theoretical studies and I found myself involved in makeup. Sincerely I’ve always been a really creative person, I need to touch things with my hand, to destroy. Colour is a really important aspect of my life, I live the experience of it with a big irrational joy and I love it.
Thinking back in time I was fascinated by makeup since a really young age, I simply stopped caring about it at a certain point. I am really glad I rediscovered it.
I intimately believe that such a big passion is due also to the fact that I am a really shy person. Makeup for me is also a way to express my personality, to get my freedom, to impress, to take a stance.
As you might have understood to me makeup is so much more than beautifying and concealing some dark circles.

- Can you tell us a bit about the process of creating the perfect makeup look?
Well, it depends on what is perfect for you! For me it’s all about making a statement. I feel way more comfortable with sequins stuck on my face than with some glamorous eyeshadow or with a bare face.
A look is perfect when you feel like yourself in it, when it’s well balanced and when it’s different. My “perfect” requires a skin that looks like skin, nothing more beautiful than a natural glow.
- You use bold colors and eye-catching details for your makeup looks, where does your inspiration come from?
Sincerely, I don’t know. I think a lot about colour theory but at the end of the day, I always find myself satisfied by the simple visual aspect of makeup. I am really impetuous with my looks, the more I plan, the more I think about it, the worst is going to look. I need to go with the flow.

- You are often using yourself as a model, what is the difference between creating looks for yourself and making- up others? Which one do you prefer?
It’s completely different and I enjoy both. I prefer doing makeup on models. I model for my Instagram photos in order to challenge myself in creating always something new, every week. It’s a fantastic mental training. However, using always the same face as a canvas can be boring sometimes.
Working with someone else’s face is fantastic, makeup transforms itself depending on who’s wearing it. Each colour drastically changes how each person is. It’s not about skin colour and skin type, it’s also about the model’s personality. It’s amazing. Each time you do your makeup on someone else you learn so many things, it’s an interrupted learning process. I love the challenging aspect of doing a model makeup.
- You are inspiring more than 66.000 people every day through your Instagram page. What makes a good Instagram profile?
In my opinion, you need a good picture quality and to propose some original contents. I think that the most important thing for me is the “unconventional” factor. I believe that a huge quantity of my followers is sick and tired of botox faces, extreme contour, Kylie Jenner lips. At the moment, big Instagram influencers all look the same, big lips, expensive non-surgical treatments, California crop tops. That ain’t real life.
I tend to oppose to the idea of beauty trends, I hate the conception of it. Makeup should be about experimentation, authenticity, and self-expression. Running after trends means running after an imposed look.
A good Instagram profile should promote individuality.
- What type of tools are you using to photograph your creations?
Professional camera and lighting equipment. Picture quality is really important for me
- Do you have a favourite makeup brand? What products do you love using?
I don’t favor brands. I love products and I am extremely passionate about understanding the formulations. If I had to pick one I would say Mac Cosmetics because I am fascinated by the professional tools they offer.
I love trying out skin products and looking how they perform up close with a magnifying mirror. I find this to be incredibly fascinating. The products I love the most are the ones that perform the best on the skin, melting into its texture, not simply sitting on top of it.
My second love is brushes: you never stop learning new ways to use them to create different effects.
- Do you have any coming up projects you would like to share with us?
After my bachelor graduation which is around the corner, I’ll have a zillion of exciting things to come. I really can’t wait to dive full time in my makeup world.
