Do you know that feeling when so many amazing things happened, all together, in one day and the day after you still haven’t digested much of it? Well, that’s certainly happening to me today, the day after Barbacan Produce #3…
After a strong black coffee at Nora’s house we packed Stefano’s car to the top and took the road towards Piazza Barbacan. Even if I usually feel sleepy before 10:00 am,( I’m not at all a morning person), I was feeling very excited and awake as Alessia, one of the organizers and owner of the Boogaloo Vintage Store showed us the way across the piazza to our spot. Then after some change- of- minds and adjustments we were happy with our stall, complete with an apple green umbrella to protect us from the hot sun. After all we were going to spend the whole day there!
After a while Marta arrived and our team was complete. During the morning we had some visitors, but the hot day made a lot of people stay home or go to the sea. However, it gave us the time to speak with the other crafters, visit their stalls and complete our setup as well. We were very happy to meet the other sellers from Michela of Ullala Capelli and Lodovica of Combine, to the guys of Busking Bears and Dezen Dezen. We stopped to chat with Jan and Silvia from Giada and the ladies of Mandulis and bookAporter to name just a few. In the afternoon more and more people started coming to the market, there was music and the bars opened to serve the traditional aperitivo. We talked with many people about our products, listened to their feedback and made load of key- chains! A lot of our friends visited the market and our stall and they were enthusiastic to see our bags in real life. We took our time to explain how our products are made from the canvas, leather and the sewing process, to their properties and how to style them.
Our first open- air market experience was incredible, we learnt so much by speaking to customers, other artisans and the organizers. We also got to know the vibrant creative scene of Trieste, which includes unbelievably interesting crafters of international level. We got the chance to see them work, exchange ideas and information with them and make connections. Also we actually met people with whom we had only been speaking online, it’s so nice to actually shake hands with people you were just exchanging messages online. We got to present our products to people that had never seen them before and hear their impressions. We definitely loved the experience and we cannot wait for the next !
