There has been a lot of hype about embroidery lately with more and more artists and artisans incorporating sewn details in their works… and we don’ stay out of it. In our always minimal way, we have been decorating our backpacks and totes with colored thread to make each backpack unique.
However, Singapore-born artist Izziyana Suhaimi, takes embroidery to a new level in one of her latest works. By blending traditional and popular culture she designs mainly with pencil and then mixes watercolour and embroidery to ”dress” the girls in the designs. The result is a series of gorgeous works that incorporate illustration, painting and embroidery all at once!
